Face the truth

I chanced upon this article on Yahoo that says our features may reveal our personality. Jean Haner, an expert in understanding facial features says that one’s personality can be seen in the face. "Your face is a blueprint for who you really are inside," she reveals.
She also says she can predict which supermarket checkout clerk will scan her groceries fastest and why her clients' attempts to find Mr. or Mrs. Right often fall short.

"If you want a sensitive guy who is emotionally available, go for a big mouth and full lips.

"If you want them to be spiritually sensitive, they'll have a bony nose [and] sunken or hollowed cheeks," she explained. But be careful if your guy's upper lip is much thinner than his lower one.

"It's a sign they're more hedonistic and have a tendency to be unfaithful," she says. "Maybe one woman isn't going to be enough."
Haner also says people who choose to erase their wrinkles with surgery could actually be doing a disservice.

"There are good wrinkles and bad wrinkles," she says. "We are supposed to get some, and if you erase them it's not healthy, you might have to learn certain life lessons all over again."

And the woman who plucks her eyebrows into a tiny line? "Back away slowly," Haner jokes. "That's suppressed rage."

Even so, she notes, "You can't tell everything about someone just by looking at one feature. It's how all the features work together that really gives you the true picture."

My little black secret weapon

Style comes from confidence, and confidence comes from within.

Style is not decided by what you wear. Style decides what you wear, and style is about how you wear it! People make style mistakes or fashion faux pas all the time. You can see them if you take a walk down any high street in any town. What you will find, however, is that the ones which stand out to us as the real ‘fashion victims’ are the ones which are trying so hard. Trying to pull-off a look which they do not appear comfortable with. When we see people in what we consider to be the most outrageous outfit strutting down the street, we tend to aspire their confidence. These people are fashion leaders, they know who they are any they know how to show it - regardless of what the dictionary says - these people are the definition of style.

So next time you go out, put whatever you want on - show yourself off, show your true colours and you too will become the definition of style.

To help you on your way there is a great little book I recently picked up which injects you with all sorts of tips. Check it out, it’s called: The Little Black Book of Style by Nina Garcia

Sex + Advertisng = Controversy

Sex and fashion (and drugs) have long been intertwined. Sex and advertising – even longer. But, every now and again, someone in the fashion world causes a stir. We’ve uncovered some of the most controversial ads ever released by the fashion industry. Feast your eyes!

Spain's Labour and Social Affairs Ministry branded the Dolce & Gabbana ad campaign as illegal and humiliating to women, saying the woman's body position had no relation to the products Dolce & Gabbana were trying to sell.

La Vanguardia newspaper quoted the Milan-based fashion house as saying:"We will only withdraw this photo from the Spanish market. They're a bit behind the times."

Tom Ford has made a living turning heads in the fashion world. Since his days of infusing sex into an anemic Gucci line, his name has been synonymous with controversy. The creative behind his latest cologne offering may not come as a surprise to the fashion faithfuls, but might make the conservative GQ reader sweat.

Sisley has consistently delivered provocative ads for the better part of a decade. Whether its white residue in their models nose or mouth, you can count on this Benetton Group company to continuously push the envelope.

Obama Berry

BlackBerry 8830 World Edition from Verizon Wireless

Reports say that the 44th U.S. president suggested that he hangs onto his old CrackBerry. However, recently, President Obama was spotted in Washington, D.C., walking at the White House’s West Wing Colonnade toward the Oval Office with BlackBerry in hand. The specific model he’s currently using is a Research In Motion (RIM) BlackBerry 8830 World Edition from Verizon Wireless.

The President is no longer using the hideous-looking Sectera Edge, the super securified and Trea-like Windows Mobile device that was reportedly approved for official use by the National Security System Agency (NSA).

It is still unclear whether or not President Obama will be allowed to continue to use the BlackBerry 8830, which has supposedly been modified to enhance various voice and data encryption strengths. Last week, White House press secretary Robert Gibbs said that a deal had been struck to allow Obama access to his BlackBerry for communication with a handful of senior staffers and friends, and that his use of the device would be limited. But few details on the compromise—or who made the final decision—are available.
